Renting out your space during holidays or events

Updated on 3 October 2026 · 2 min read

When the city fills up, spaces become scarce: school holidays, festivals, matches, trade fairs, Christmas markets. That is when a rented space earns the most. Here is how to prepare.

Anticipate periods of high demand

Note the dates in your city that attract crowds: sporting or cultural events, trade fairs, school holidays, long weekends. The earlier your listing is online, the more likely it is to be found by people planning their trip.

Adjust your prices

  • Raise the daily rate on peak dates, and keep a normal rate the rest of the year.
  • A weekly or monthly rate can suit long stays, such as holidays or seasons.
  • An hourly rate appeals to people coming for a concert, a match or a day out.
  • You can change your rates at any time from the listing.

Manage your availability

From the listing you can limit availability to certain hours for each day of the week (this applies to hourly bookings) and block specific periods, for example your own holidays or a family party.

If you do not want bookings for a while, pause the listing: it disappears from the results without erasing its history.

Prepare the space

  • Clear the space and check that it is clean and accessible.
  • Add photos that help people find it on the ground: landmark from the street, gate, key box.
  • Choose an access method that works without you: keypad, key box or a gate the renter can open. The access code is only shared after booking.
  • State the available height and dimensions.

Residents' rules, neighbours and insurance

If the space is in a shared building, check that the rules allow you to make it available to third parties. Warn your neighbours if people will come and go more often, and check with your insurer that your policy covers this activity.

When you are away

Bookings are confirmed online and you receive an email for each new booking. Renters can also report that they have left, which lets you know when the space is free. If a renter does not leave on time, the next person or you can report it from your account.
